Game Changer

The Game Change program introduces youth to the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Our passionate instructors cover the basics of coding, game development, and design in a nurturing, culturally-competent manner. Along with personalized instruction, participants will receive a certificate of accomplishment and tips to keep their interest in STEM alive. Over time, we hope to help the next generation of Richmond residents find a safe space for expression and connection with each other — disrupting the systemic cycles of violence and poverty that plague our community.

Game Changer primarily serves BIPOC youth aged 14-24 in the medically and economically disadvantaged and high-crime areas of North, South, and Central Richmond. Participants may have been in prison, currently in the juvenile system, at-risk, or transitioning back into society.

The Game Changer Program is a 2-hour hybrid meeting that takes place monthly at Cobiz Richmond: 1503 Macdonald Ave Suite A, Richmond, CA 94801. Topics covered include but are not limited to online game design, web and app development, and safe internet usage.

Participation in the Game Changer is free of charge.
